Todd Smith's Blog

A day in the life of Todd Smith

Hello world!

Hey everyone, this is my first blog!!  This is my first post!!  WOW!!  That was brilliant!!

Let me share a little about myself.

My name is Todd Smith.  I have been married for almost 8 years to Angie Smith.  She is the most beautiful, amazing, gifted, intelligent person I have ever been around, and I get to spend the rest of my life getting to know her.  We have four beautiful daughters.  Ellie and Abby are our twins (6), Kate is 3, and Audrey Caroline http://audreycaroline.blogspot.com just had her first birthday.  She is with Jesus.  I will share more about all my girls as time goes on.

I’m the son of missionaries Jim and Nancy Smith http://labanministries.org.  I spent 8 years (5-13) in Congo (DRC) back when it was called Zaire.  I’m originally from Detroit, MI but I’ve lived in Nashville for the past 17 years.

I’ve had the privilege of being in the Christian music group Selah http://selahonline.com for the past 12 years.  Our 6th CD, You Deliver Me comes out August 25th!  I sing with Allan Hall and Amy Perry.  Two very amazing and wonderful people.

I love walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, and Yanni!!  NOT REALLY!

Just kidding, I do love Yanni! Not really!

I will be posting from time to time.  Some of it will be deep (or at least I’ll think it’s deep), and some will be serious.  Hopefully, a lot of it will be hilarious!!  Much of it will be everyday life, so you will see a lot of my kids, or life on the road.

Just so you know, I’m horrible at grammar and spelling, so there will be many mistakes in those two categories.

I look forward to getting to know you all better and thank you for letting me in.  Being that I have not posted yet that would be all none of you.

Todd Smith

My husband and I have seen you in concert many times (I’m the stalker-lady –not really!!) but I do get a little star struck around you and Alan and Amy!

I’m so glad you’ve started a blog.. It’s been so wonderful to follow along with Angie and read her wonderful and inspiring words, and her story.

  7. I have a feeling, with how voracious Angie’s followers are, that you’ll have more reader than you know what to do with in no time. 🙂

I only have one comment for now: If you love Yanni, you could’ve stepped in for mpt when Jess wanted to go see Yanni Voices! I’m sure she would have appreciate the company… 🙂

  8. Welcome Todd! It’s about time! Can’t wait to hear your take on things. I’ve loved Selah for a long time, and your work on your own. We’re pretty nice and forgiving about grammer and such, so mistake away! We’ll just be nice and blame typos.

Anyway. I can’t wait for your blog. I hope it has all the goodies and more.

By the way, are you on Facebook?

  17. Hi Todd,

Very cool that you started a blog!! Angie has been such an encouragement to me on our journey with our son Isaac who was born October 7, 2008, and went to be with Jesus the same day. Like you all, we found out about Isaac’s diagnosis in utero and carried him to term. I have appreciated to much her sharing Audrey’s story on her blog, as well as the e-mails we have exchanged. She even surprised us and sent a copy of the boy version of “I Will Carry You” to our Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep photographer to use for the slideshow for Isaac’s memorial service.

Anyhow.. thank you, too, for sharing your story with all of us. I know that God is so honored in the way that you both have walked this journey.

And I LOVE Selah!! When are you all going to come to Maryland?!?! 🙂

    Blessings,

    Stacy

  25. Welcome to the blogworld. I’ve loved your music for years. I used to play it in my store, my boss would look at me funny when you were singing in the different languages and one CD had a little bit of preaching on it…but I loved it. I recently bought the 4 set booklet and gave all my old cds to a friend of mine. I forced her to go with me to your Nashville concert a while back and now she wants to force me to another one! Love you and your family and pray for you often.

  28. Congrats on your new blog! I look forward to reading it and ant wait for the new cd! (loved the song Angie previewed for us on her blog!). I too have a daughter with Jesus- she’d be 13 next week. Honestly, Angie’s ministry through her blog has brought me closer to our Lord than I ever have been. Her complete trust and faithfulness has helped me realize what I’ve lacked in my walk with God. Big hugs to you both.

  41. Hi Todd,

    Greetings from Sydney, Australia!

I read about your new blog on twitter.

It’s nice to hear your side of things; having read Angie’s blog since just before Audrey was born I kinda feel like I know you and your family a little bit! (That’s slightly stalker-ish, I know!)

Anyway, I LOVE Angie’s blog, and I’m sure I’ll come to love yours too! Keep up the great work.

  42. Todd,
You should also mention that you are serious ALL the time. I sing at Cross Point and sang this past weekend and was the one who backed you when you did the special a few months ago. Then at the Christmas Eve service, as you introduced me to Angie as the one that did your backgrounds when you sang, she said “Oh yeah, he said you were terrible.” I think I still have nightmares about that! Ha! Just kidding. I’m a smart mouth too. At any rate, it’s always great to see your family in the congregation!

  46. Congratulations on becoming a blogger. I’m not good at grammer or spelling either.

It was such a joy to meet you last year at Frederick Church of the Brethern. So many people in our church have come to enjoy Selah’s music. I am so excited to hear that a date has been set for the new CD!

Angie and the kids are beautiful. They are blessed to have you as part of their lives! What a beautiful family God has given you.

Thank you for the link to Laban Ministries that came in the Special Collection set. I have enjoyed reading and researching about the ministry.

Looking forward to reading the blogs.

  48. Welcome to the blog world..I love the blog post you posted on your wives blog..I follow her every time she has a post, because she is on my blog..Your group is one of my favorites. My amazing friend that I met a few years back, returned to God after a long life with drugs and so much more, she was the one who told me I had to go and buy your CD’s..I have to tell you that whenever I listen to them the songs touch me and bring tears often or shouts of Praise, but I think of my friend that told me about you all. She went home to be with Jesus not to long ago, her life was taken in a car wreck. I thank God often that she was able to be born again before that day she pasted away. I know that if there are CD players in Heaven then she is listening to you all sing, because you were her favorite group!!! You songs changed her life!! Thank you for listening to God, because you are touching lives everywhere! (my mom now is a hug fan, also)

  52. Hi Todd,
I have just recently discovered Selah just this weekend. I have lived under a rock for awhile apparently. Someone close to me had the group’s CD Hiding Placeplaying in his car. I have worshipped this morning listening to “You are My Hiding Place” and “Before the Throne of God.”

I have read several blogs discovering the history of you, your wife, and the others. It is a blessing to see the strength of God in your lives and it is certainly an inspiration to us all. My partner and I live in NC and it is wonderful to see sincere love and not hate when the all the world seems to be is about judgment and unrest.

I look forward to listening to your other songs and the message as it unfolds.

    God Bless to you three.
